Pat's male tenor voice became instantly recognizable in 1969 when he topped the charts as the lead singer of the group "The Spiral Starecase" with his self penned and million-air award winning classic"(I Love You) More Today Than Yesterday".

Jonathan Richey -
Where else but in Alabama, can someone be a backup walk-on quarterback & placeholder for extra points & have this kind of rock star / hero status? All kidding aside, Jonathan is a a good guy and was an instrumental part of the Crimson Tide & their Christian athlete program.

Euclid Rains - Rains, Thomas Euclid, Sr. (c.1921-2000) also known as T. Euclid Rains of Alabama. Member of Alabama state house of representatives 26th District, 1979-91. Became blind when he lost both eyes in an accident as a boy. He was the only totally blind baseball coach in Little League history. Killed in an automobile accident, when the car in which he was a passenger went off a bridge in heavy rain, near Geraldine, August 27, 2000. Founded the Sand Mountain Broom Company and later expanded his farm to include cattle, market vegetables, and bees.  I met him once at a beekeepers meeting and he amazed me with his intellect, humor, & wit.  He was blind but could pick you out of a crowd by the sound of your voice.  Was also famously shown on local TV jumping from the high falls arch rock. 


Donna Feazell - TV Talk Show Host - 
graduated from Geraldine in 1977.  Hosts a TV show in Charlotte NC, called "The Woman's Edge".








Justin McMullins and Zach Sibert, both of Geraldine, were selected to join cheerleading squads at UA for Fall 2006. We may see them on TV for years to come.



HUGH O'SHIELDS Coached for 29 years at Cleveland and Oneonta where his football teams compiled an overall record of 243-74-13 with two state championships. He was named Coach of the Year three times and also coached basketball, track and baseball. He served on the Eighth District Board and the AHSAA Central Board of Control. A graduate of Geraldine High and Jacksonville State.  Member of the Alabama 1992 Sports Hall of Fame

Larry Chandler - Youngest mayor in Alabama history at the age of 18 in the small town outside of Geraldine, named Lakeview.  Owner of Sand Mountain Herbs, world famous herb seed supply company.

Porter Gilbert - Porter Gilbert (Auburn University Basketball 1959-61) * Guard * 6-1, 165 * Geraldine, AL (Geraldine)  Three-year letter winner at Auburn University who averaged 10.3 points per game for his career while shooting 59.7 percent from the field ... he was Auburn's all-time leader in field goal pct. (.597) when he graduated.
