Cheering it up
When most people think of sports on Sand Mountain, they probably think of powerhouse football teams and state championship girls basketball teams.But if Maxim Athletics (formerly known as Peak Performance) has anything to do with it, that will all change.Through different scholarships from a variety of colleges, eight local athletes have earned the chance to compete at the collegiate level while also earning their education.
“I can’t say enough about how proud I am of each one of them,” said Maxim Athletics owner Connie Cochran. “I wish them all the best and hope to see them all succeed.”
Justin McMullins is a 2004 graduate of Geraldine High School, cheering at the University of Alabama while pursuing a degree in Secondary Education/Math….
