Picture of noose on car prompts local, federal investigation
Oct 26, 2007 05:50 PM CDT Authorities in DeKalb County are investigating a hate crime at a Valley school.

The crime is serious enough that the FBI is now getting involved.

With the help of our news partners, the Times-Journal in Fort Payne, and the Sand Mountain Reporter in Albertville, we’re starting to piece together exactly what happened.

The mother of the child involved feels the whole incident is being blown way out of proportion.

DeKalb County Sheriff Jimmy Harris confirms a Geraldine High School student’s car was vandalized.

Someone had drawn a picture of a noose and wrote something along the lines of “your head ‘ought to be in it.
